My mum is left handed and I grew up in a left-handed household as much as she could manage. We had left handed scissors and even a soup ladle she found in a pottery shop where the potter was left handed.
My husband is also a leftie as is my six year old (my mum loves it). I monitored both my kids from almost birth and he was obviously a leftie from the minute he started using his hands.
Here in Germany we have tons of stationery that I have bought him - left handed scissors, grippy pencil, pencil sharpener (other direction), and when he starts also fountain pen.
This doesn’t solve the problem as the big wide world doesn’t have these things available everywhere, but I help where I can. Also letting him know that it’s a right handed world and if he’s struggling it’s not his fault eg the scissors issue. Ironically we only had left handed scissors when I grew up so I experienced the pain on my thumb not realising why. We have both at home and also ambidextrous scissors.
My mum loves the shop in London and we’ve bought many things from there.
At least they’re not vilified in the west anymore and made to write with their right hand. They’re also super creative. I’m proud of my lefties ♥️
