I think in theory it's been great, and on and off I have also had it.

The huge thing they missed was kids. You can't buy a version for kids, and they have to either pay the full kid train fare when they travel or have their own Deutschlandticket, which then makes travel expensive (if there are 4 of us). They're both under 14 so get super cheap transport otherwise, especially locally.

My husband and I now buy a monthly ticket on our local transport network that we share for work, and the kids can travel free locally on this ticket. If the Deutschlandticket allowed kids to travel for free or offer a reduced kid version, that would be amazing!
